Fillers

What You Should Know About Wrinkle Fillers Injectable wrinkle fillers can give you a more youthful look for a fraction of what a traditional facelift costs. Most will fill lines and wrinkles in less than 30 minutes with results that can last from 4 months to more than a year. Injectable wrinkle fillers, unlike Botox injections that relax the muscle under a wrinkle, fill the line, crease, or area with one of several different substances. As a result, trouble spots nearly disappear. Wrinkle fillers can also be used as "volumizers," plumping and lifting cheeks, jawlines, and temples; filling out thin lips, and plumping sagging hands. The treatment is fast and easy. But all wrinkle fillers have a downside, including the risk of allergic reaction and the formation of tiny bumps under the skin. In some cases, those bumps may be permanent. And sometimes, a bluish skin discoloration known as the Tyndall effect happens. The color change can last for several months, but there are treatments available. In very rare cases, skin cells may die if the wrinkle fillers are not used properly. There have also been a few reported cases of blindness and nerve paralysis. Typically, the wrinkle fillers that last longer are the ones more likely to cause side effects. Not every wrinkle-filler is right for every type of wrinkle. The least risks and best results come from using the right one correctly. That's why you should only have fillers injected by a board-certified

Botulinum toxin and wrinkles

Botulinum toxin (Bocouture °, Azzalure, Vistabel ° ...) treats expression lines facial by reducing the action of the muscles that create them. It does not fill wrinkles such as filler injections but relaxes the treated areas.

The botulinum toxin does not pull, it relaxes the skin

The only way to release the frontalis muscle was to cut it during surgical facelifts or by endoscopy. In aesthetic medicine, botulinum toxin, injected directly into these muscles produces the same result, while giving sufficient mobility to satisfy the expressiveness of the face. Even if you feel a s t r e t c h e d s k i n , i t i s t h e r e l a x a t i o n o f t h e m u s c l e which removes wrinkles. The goal is to relax without freezing the expression.

Product: Botulinum endotoxin

It is a drug which has long been used (Botox ©, Dysport ©) to treat spasms of the eyelids, face or neck. In comparison, doses of botulinum toxin in aesthetic medicine used against wrinkles and fine lines are very low.

Injection techniques with botulinum toxin

These are a few tiny injections of a few millimeters deep, spread over the skin muscles of the forehead or between eyebrow and also on the muscles creating the wrinkles of the crow's feet. It is also possible to pull up the eyebrow tail if it is pulled down. The needles are very thin and the injection is virtually painless.

Disadvantages and risks of botulinum toxin

Minor bruising may occur but rarely. In the week after, you can feel the tightness around the forehead or a tension. Mobility is reduced but without frozen facial expression if the doses are low. It has been described in some transitory type of headache.

Results and maintenance

After 4 to 6 days, the toxin effects are visible: spontaneous smoothing of the upper half of the face. The forehead is smooth, loses its austerity and sadness. Wrinkles of crow's feet are very reduced. Initially, the effect of injections decreases after 4 months. We must renew the session, and same after the 2nd session. In general, these three sessions give thereafter an effect on wrinkles which can last from 6 to 10 months.
